Mastodon embed ‘card’ outcomes in the web client:
1. Write a post and include a URL: get an embed card
2. Publish a post without a URL, subsequently edit it and add a URL: no embed card.
I can imagine what is going on under the hood, and therefore why it is, but it’s confounding
Useful to know, for those occasions when you don't want it.
(Except that maybe that only applies to your local server; if other servers don't retrieve the post pre-edit it might not work that way?)
@electropict the idealist in me would like mechanisms to choose but I accept that KISS may apply
