I seem to be making a lot of people here very angry lately.
I honestly have no idea if it's me or them or something in the water.
I'm sorry if I've offended you, whatever the reason. It wasn't my intent, for whatever that's worth. Communication is sometimes noisy, and misunderstanding can spiral out of proportion.

You end up in fights with idiots way more than anyone else I follow on Mastodon. But you don't seem to be going out of your way to pick those fights.
Maybe just something about posts on "election integrity" brings them out. Doesn't explain people getting upset about the photography though...
@mattblaze if you want to offend me, there are ways to do so, but you have to try a lot harder than this
@mvaneerde I can at least assure you that if I'm TRYING to offend you, you'll almost certainly know.
My take on this is that so many people have been so conditioned to be consumers that they think they're job is to criticize other people's personal lives as a product.
A lot of people think YouTube heads and "Reality" TV heads are normal things, and feel like they have a right to tell you how you're being yourself on the internet wrong.

@skinnylatte Thanks. One of the problems is that that the crazy (which is an unknown fraction of this, maybe 10%, maybe 100%) is disrupting the normal feedback loop we rely on to adjust our behavior. I'm getting "you're extremely agressive/monsterous/uncouth" responses to what I thought would be very normal comments. And it seems to be happening more and more.

It's funny someone else's comment about the text based medium. As an Autistic woman, I get that WAY WAY WAY more often in person than I do on text based platforms. It just makes me wonder about how Autistic vs Allistic vs. masc vs. femme communications are received.

Calm rational discussions simply will not generate the clicks trolls and the like can generate
and hit and run trolling is easy. Articulating an opinion or thought in cogent manner take time
@mattblaze I seem to have the same effect on this platform. I think a lot is lost when communication happens only through text and you don't know the tone of the person on the other end. And people love to hate, of course.

@petrillic I hope not, but I'm just not sure anymore. I just had someone refuse to accept multiple apologies on my part for what they perceived as an "aggressive" reply on my part. I feel like I have to walk on eggshells here lately.
I would say name and shame them to the TL and let nature take its course..
but from history I know you just normally dont throw folks to the wolves like that

@mattblaze I am sorry that you are being put through the mill for no discernible reason. You should be able to pursue your interests, sans criticisms that really have no pertinence. Having to block nuisances, every time you are online, is beyond acceptable. But it's not you. It's them. @petrillic

@mattblaze @petrillic You likely either disagreed with that person, or you persisted in stating facts. Either way, it wasn't what they wanted to here and got butthurt in the process. I agree w/ Chris.. you're definitely not at fault here.
I, for one, welcome your expert insights. Even if I don't always agree with everything, I know you know your stuff and I can trust what you're putting out there.
