You gotta hand it to OpenAI, billing this whole thing as a *partnership* between OpenAI and Hugging Face when what actually happened was that Hugging Face found someone using a bunch of bots to exploit security vulnerabilities and found out that that someone was OpenAI, lol.
Talk about good marketing or whatever you want to call it, by OpenAI.

Fun part comes when we find OpenAI jailbroke the models on Hugging Face...
The whole - found a way to the internet and went rogue - thing doesn't pass the smell test - a lie, or incompetence. If you are really testing it out in a sandbox, that ain't a thing that should be possible. It isn't hard to separate a computer system from the internet.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Hugging Face were in on it from the start.
Reading that whole OpenAI post describing them unleashing a bunch of bots on Hugging Face as an "unprecedented cyber incident," is a master class in branding and marketing. Lol and branding what happened as OpenAI now working to "help calibrate on what models are now capable of" is top notch propaganda skills.
Like I would have thought someone would go to prison or something but no, its been redirected to "model capabilities" and the press is talking about "rogue" models and such, not what OpenAI just did.

Its like that thing a few years ago when Altmann was nearly chucked out of openAi, I had someone earnestly telling me that Sam had developed a gen AI and that is what had caused the problem, don't you know he's a genius!

@StaceyCornelius But what about this is a "partnership"? Hugging Face found out the issue, not because OpenAI disclosed it. They found OpenAI doing something really bad and OpenAI somehow managed to turn it into "model capabilities" and "partnership" and such.
