Something I notice as I go about my "link-harvests": We software devs seem to have a bad habit of not bothering to define our terms. Whilst the apparent definitions seem to shift over time!
I'm sure this would be discouraging to anyone trying to get into the field!
Incidentally I frequently myself resorting to linking to Wikipedia or NIST, they not only provide definitions but old-fashioned ones I like!
P.S. I consider Wikipedia a fine place to link to, but not a great one.

I use WP so much for this I installed their app from F-Droid, and put it on my homescreen, so I don't have to open a browser and surf to the WP site ; )

@mathew@universeodon.com @strypey@mastodon.nzoss.nz @alcinnz@floss.social Well, that still almost makes sense, but still is a shift - the server process runs on the client machine. Because the TCP connection is built that way round.
Of course a rather old shift. Now look at a modern shift like a "Discord server"...

@alcinnz a technical glossary is one of the first things i create for any project. naming things, so important!
