I'm part of several volunteer groups, rotating seasonally to avoid burnout. One thing I have noticed when it comes to volunteer work is that it's mostly women. More than mostly, it's actually all women, I'm often the only guy in the room.
Men, where are you?! You're not at the soup kitchen or the community closet, you're not at the potluck, you're not at the school fundraiser.
Being a "breadwinner" isn't even an excuse. These women hold down full time jobs, usually have several kids to care for, do all the housework, and still they find time to volunteer for their community. I'm always the only one that's actually "unemployed" and spending my free time volunteering.
It would be nice to have another guy to hang out with so I don't have to be pressured to join yet another 'mommy group' on Facebook while listening to your wives complain about you.
It's super easy, just lookup a local community organization and contact the person (woman) in charge and ask how you can help. They may even give you a manly job like crowd control at an event, or hauling things with your truck. Don't worry, it's not all scary emotional labor, I promise.
