I'm changing my blocking policy to block at the slightest sign of provocation for a while. I may end up misinterpreting and over-doing it, and I'm sorry if you get caught in the crossfire after making a well-intended comment, but after the last couple days, the only viable alternative to blocking more aggressively is deleting my account here.
@mattblaze I'm a big fan of the block feature, and often use it in the spirit of preventative medicine.

@mattblaze I feel you. I’ve watched a number of folks leave recently over the incessant correcting, demands and other unpleasantness. Wish people would stop driving others away.
@adamshostack The gaslighting is really nuts, trying to convince me that my posts about current events and voting systems were somehow objectionable and harmful. One person told me they make me a "literal digital rapist".

@mattblaze One redeeming quality I value highly with the fedi over twitter "back in the days": the doofus™ is finite. Blocking early and somewhat losely helps.
@mattblaze sorry that you have to deal with those comments. I think your discussions of the election systems and security are very important, especially in this year when we will see a lot of misinformation about the election. So block, and know that there are thousands here that appreciate your contributions.
There's only so much being told what a monster one is that one can take, and I'm getting close to my limit.

@mattblaze Matt, I wonder if the trolling campaign targeting you is part of a deliberate, wider effort to toxify Mastodon. I’m not saying you should tolerate it for one second, but you’re not the first prominent account holder to get targeted with a fire hose of utter nonsense that would drive any reasonable person away.
