@sundogplanets Actually, you missed the point: Its the beginning of Star Wars. Laser Beams are the end products to strike nations, while this one can be turned to 'burn' a nation up... not give it light.

You know I have this big ass question.. They’re gonna put up what would probably be very large my large sheets, one kind whatever the reflective material is. I have to ask aren’t those kinds of structures awfully likely to suffer a lot of damage from meteorites of all sizes especially dust?

I mean a good way to capture all sorts of particles flying very high relative velocity would be to put a gigantic flat or slightly curved sheet of something up in space.

I did a quick research on this after seeing the cartoon, and having read that the Federal Communications Commission granted a license for a first Reflect Orbital satellite ten days ago, I am convinced that human hubris is absolutely boundless.
