This is really bad on its own, but again — it's an absolute travesty that a private company like Thomson Reuters can collect and store massive databases of Americans' private and personal data — from names, addresses, Social Security numbers, ethnicity, social media posts, and location information — and the government can just buy that data, no warrant needed. @zackwhittaker we have a woman who is local in my county in Central Vermont who has been really leading the charge in the Vermont legislature to be a lot more rigorous about data brokers; the woman who's running in the primary against her has donations that are exclusively from out-of-state lobbying orgs. This is a really challenging thing to fight against, all this tech $$ but I'm glad she's doing it.

Exactly. If the rules prohibit the USG from collecting this sort of data, it shouldn't be able to get around them through the simple dodge of buying it on the open market.

@zackwhittaker Thompson-Reuters doesn't even know the difference between a flotilla and an armada. In other words, they can't even use a dictionary, let alone a database, to investigate anything. Fucking yellow journos.
