man that AI shit is the greatest divide and conquer operation i've ever seen. just fantastic. just great.
keep this going long enough, we'll be sliced among so many different planes of contention, no two people will ever agree on anything ever again.

@lritter I had this exact fucking thought 20 minutes ago. Like an epiphany.
@photex @lritter yeah, clear from day1.
1. train models on all public data
2. incentivize everyone to help spam/enshittify the public internet to degrade public data so nobody else can train their models
3. leading to the only quick and decent answers coming from AIs, so ppl share their data exclusively with them
4. train your AIs on all the fresh data users provide and learn about them
5. use it to divide the user base into segments to optimize for whatever goals you have as an AI controller
@toerror @photex @lritter hard to say, but imho - if it is a strategy that would work - then its likely that professional strategy think tanks who evaluate how to best "win" ...will come up with it and do it.
they will feed all their knowlesge about how to come up woth strategies into models and let the AI models come up with ideas to help them.
if you were the board od OpenAI or any other company and worked with the military and would need to find the "winning moves" wouldnt you do it?
@serapath @photex i was more thinking of the purity related discussions we have now and how that cleaves us into us and them, where you're either an unassailable force for good (but mostly broke, unemployed, perpetually ranting, comically impotent) or steeped in sin (moderate income, can maybe prevent the worst from the inside, but ye have to kiss satan's uncut gems)
but, sure. that too. i doubt it's been an explicit plan but, as we see from AI itself, optimization births tactics.

when AI is a raise of arms between big nation states and when so much money is involved, entire think tanks and strategy departments and marketing departments and boards and whatever are getting paid full time to figure out the best moves ... they are precisely paid - ita their job - to explicitly plan and refine those plans. they are professionals for it
@lritter @photex hmm, to be it soubds like comparing activists and open source devs ...with employees and/or entrepreneurs who take VC money.
But i do think there is a third way. Bootstrapping local community based businesses run on open source software and radical transparency to team up with others to generate self sustainability and growing the commons on that basis in a sustainable way ... self directed, thus NOT like corporate or startup employees and also not like classic business ppl
the only antidot are version decentralized version controlled datasets fed with code into decwntralized LLM compute clouds to prosuce version controlled auditable models and bring transparency to everything.
this is not what Fiat money will fund though, so its nowhere to be seen, but it is possible to do
