And that's why division of labour is a thing. My point being, I don't think any of the parts of that process is that hard by itself, so organisation is essential. Stop complaining. Start organising. Prove to those smug types who think you can't or won't do it that you really can and will. Together.
And, yes, my post is also about technology.
The reason Linus (because I assume this is all about him) could get where he is now is that he had the drive to create something reasonably simple («won't be big and professional like GNU») and that was what drew people to him. But if nobody else had appeared to help him, the Linux kernel would have stayed a cool student project.
Finally, remember that he didn't start from scratch either. He based his work on that of many others. He didn't have to build his own loom.
