Good morning from the farm. I have zoom meetings allllll day so I needed extra outside/animal time this morning.

7 baby chicks just starting to get some wing feathers, some are yellow, one is brownish, two are black. They are standing on clean straw.

A view looking across a grassy field, toward a small hill with some scrubby trees on it. If you look very carefully, you can see a few goats almost hidden in the tall grass on the small hill, happily eating. The sky above is cloudy.

A white birdhouse with many openings up on top of a tall pole. There are purple martins (large dark purple swallows) happily perched on the perches on top of the house, as well as all the balconies around the house. There are some spruce trees next to the birdhouse, and the sky above is cloudy.

As a bonus, here is the goose party that was guarding the entrance to the Science Centre yesterday where I gave a talk (they were all happily eating grass and didn't actually care about anyone walking by)

A small lawn next to a building entrance, with a few dozen Canada geese happily eating grass. There's a sign on the building that says "Saskatchewan Science Centre"

@sundogplanets Where I worked there was a reflecting pool and Canada Geese would gather. They had loud arguments with each other. Their droppings were huge and messy. And they walked around the parking lot like they owned it.

If you got too close to one, it would look at you and hiss like a cat.

@sundogplanets back in my university days in Vancouver we had a goose make her nest near the door to one of the buildings. Every year for a period of time there were signs everywhere closing off that entrance lol. She'd attack anyone who got near her and her babies.
