Working on a brand new post for my series "a newbie's guide to self-hosting with #YunoHost" - showing people how to set up their own #GoToSocial microblogging instance.

Sorry it's been taking a while: I started over when I realized most people use subdomains... and I'm doing a thorough step-by-step explainer that any newbie could follow - I hope 😅

@_elena interested to check this out. Tried setting up behind a cloudflare tunnel to a self hosted machine proxied with npm. Got things mostly working, but wasn’t pulling in posts from people I followed. Hoping this shines a light on why 🤞🤷‍♂️

How much space do you need for gotosocial / yunohost ? I have a small vps and only 5 G left. Is it enough

@tofeo a basic VPS would do! I set the caching to 1 day, because that’s typically what takes up all the space. But my basic plan was 50 GB I believe - maybe you’d need at least 25 GB of space to be safe

I just spent 2 hours writing step 1 - which is only DNS records... hopefully I'll have the first article out tomorrow or Monday at the latest. There is SO MUCH to cover that I'm breaking it up in several parts
