A couple of weeks ago my workplace was burgled, and despite the thieves ransacking the place the only items of value stolen were two 20TB NAS HDDs out of our archivist's Synology unit. He's based in Melbourne so this afternoon, when his replacement drives arrived, I went into the office, snapped the new drives into the unit, plugged it into our network rack, initialised it, setup Tailscale and bam, he was able to connect. Under an hour from go to whoa, and I'm really not the most technical person. Good outcome for all concerned.
Special thanks to @sendai who has been my guru on this journey to NAS adoption! If you need a tech advisor who won't treat you like an idiot, I recommend em.
