There's a common misconception that climate change will simply move farmland north of its current location. A lot of Americans were banking on Canada. And look, Canada is on fire.
Boreal forest doesn't become arable farmland easily. The more likely outcome is a lot of places become deserts and there is no arable land at all.
@gwynnion actually, ~10,000 years ago the glaciers pushed all the soil southward. The only places in canada (generally) where there's a good soil layer for farming is along the border with the states. Conveniently, its also the same places where developers want to put their housing projects, etc. You can check a soil map to confirm this, dont just take my word for it.
TLDR: Don't look north for farmland. It's not there. We're all fucked, sorry.
