I recently saw an interview where the investor talked about the prevalence of index funds. Now changing the premise they were built on.

The idea of an index fund was to track the market and the decisions of investors.

The size of these funds now and their position adjustments are large enough to affect the market itself. And they are large enough to be gained to affect the market itself. The market is dominated by whales.

@timbray and as predicted after everyone’s 401ks (that have index funds etc) bought in a higher price point. Totally shocking and no one predicted this. ….

Eh check that looking back I think eh a lot of people predicted exactly this.

Sigh. (And yup guess it hit my investments as well)
