I’ve noticed a lot of people in AI critical threads this week showing their ass pretending there’s a use case for LLMs (while omitting the use case) or pretending to be critical of the technology while defending local models or whatever other garbage they personally like and for them I have the following message:

lgtm! You’re absolutely right! Your key takeaways 🤯🤩 and key points 🚀🗿 about this fucking garbage aren’t just genius, they’re revolutionary.

@zzt as a kid, intensely committed to a god I'd been born conscripted to, and I was harrowed by the idea of the God of the Gaps. I could never find a good argument against it: as human understanding got bigger, the space left in reality for God to have direct involvement kept getting smaller, and if we understood the world well enough, there would run out of room for that kind of deity.

There are people who are looking for God to be born into the word predictor technology, and in this one specific way, I think they got it. It's powerful and useful in all things, until you examine it carefully. And then role after role shrinks away, until it's only competent in the roles that nobody has found a hole in... yet.
