Look all I’m saying is if you bought a gigantic USA-style dual cab ute and it doesn’t fit in your garage so you have to park it on the side of the road but can’t without putting 2 wheels on the nature strip, AND you also have vanity plates, then I’m well within my rights for reporting your illegal parking on the nature strip.
@jpm I purposefully pretend to throw up every time I see one of these POS yank tanks here in NZ hoping the drivers take notice. If that can be made to a trend everyone did explicitly displaying their distaste maybe owners won't feel so cool about their purchase.
@jpm I don't know why it's called "ute" though, it has near zero utility. More like ule, as in useless
@jpm There's a townhouse complex across the road from us that has single-car garages. Each will hold a single car, or a smaller non-4x4 truck. But so many people that bought those units have jacked-up 4x4s that are too high to fit through the garage doors!
Silly people. We like our Prius!
@jpm I don't understand why there aren't car size limits. If you want a truck like this, then you should need a special licence and somewhere other than a residential area to park it.😡
@jpm Whenever I see people in such vehicles behaving badly I mock them by shouting OII'M SO IMPORDUNT IN MOOOII HOOIILUX
Specifically, if you are this fucking ankle, enjoy your chat with Melton City Council parking inspectors in the next couple of days
@jpm point of order - those tyres still seem to be inflated...
Oh by the way, that isn’t a bicycle lane said fuckhead is parked in/across, it’s a dedicated on-street parking lane. There is a separate off-street bicycle path just in front of where I’m standing
@jpm Buy a car that fits your life ffs
@jpm Huh TIL it's illegal to park on the nature strip. We used to do that occasionally because a) nature strip os gravel for some fuckass reason and b) the street is a bike lane and it fucking shits me that cares are parked in the bike lane all the time. Guess I won't do that any more.
But good thing is I basically don't have to, because I have a car that fits in the fucken garage 🤣
@fwaggle yeah it’s a local council thing that most suburban councils enforce. BUT, it’s only a nature strip if there’s a footpath adjacent to the road. If there’s no footpath then it’s not a nature strip and you’re allowed to park on it.
@jpm That seems backwards though, if there's a footpath then the nature strip isn't needed for pedestrian use?
But yeah I looked it up and apparently it's pretty much all over VIC, and ours looks just like the pic only we have a driveway that's long enough to fit a car without being a nuisance.. I guess I'll just park in the bike lane like everyone else, even though I object to that.
We basically only ever do it when we have tradies over that need the driveway/garage free so it's pretty rare.
@jpm I look forward to his second chat for blocking the footpath when he tries to park in his driveway but is too long
@jpm Not to mention, also on the bike lane... (I hope a cyclist accidentally scrapes the side)
@stufromoz oh that isn’t actually a bike lane, it’s on-street parking, there’s a dedicated separated cycle path on the other side of the road (where I’m standing)
@jpm ah. I thought it was the cycle lane... (I would be still tempted)
@jpm show the vanity plates, enquiring minds need to know who this sentient pair of Oakleys is
