I can - the author mentions it themselves right at the top of the article, in the section labelled "Antifeatures"! Tracking you and showing you ads.
As @pluralistic is fond of pointing out, many apps are just web pages wrapped in enough DRM that it's both annoyingly difficult and technically illegal to use an ad-blocker on them. And that's why they're apps, not web pages.
@aspragg @slightlyoff @pluralistic a surprising number of web pages also will yell at you if you disable your browser's built-in DRMs, too, and it seems like most people do not realize that.
