Mistreating the elderly? No! Not even if it is my dad who is a drunkard and a shameless wastrel. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/picture/2026/jul/13/it-seems-old-folk-are-being-charged-for-stuff-they-cant-use-is-there-no-end-to-peoples-greed
Oh yes!
William Cape Gardens charged my dad a couple of hundred $$ to "Test and Tag"¹ everything in his room, including USB cables 🤯, then did it again (and billed him again 😡) when I complained the first time.
Luckily, I was contracting to WorkCover at the time, so had lots of access to the Test & Tag legislation, as well as site inspectors, so I was able to get WorkCover officially involved to shut that scam down.
Anyone who goes into aged care needs to have an advocate, a loud, persistent, dogmatic, prepared-to-be-an-a55hole advocate, to fight the aged care system constantly on their behalf.
¹Test and Tag is intended for harsh working environments like mines or building sites, and excludes low voltage cables, and brand new equipment.
