Enthusiasm for contributing to #PHP often fizzles out before it has a chance to catch fire. I've proposed a Working Groups RFC to change that. Here's the case for it and how you can help shape it.
@ramsey i appreciate that you thought of how/if the WGs interact with the foundation. So, are the WGs are for operational work to keep things running? If someone proposes a WG that competes with a foundation effort, are you assuming that the RFC+voting process to charter one would bring up that discussion?
@omerida Exactly. Those sorts of issues should come up during discussion of the charter so the charter can be updated or withdrawn, as needed.
@ramsey could that be clearer in the section about the foundation's SIGs?
@omerida This makes me think I should add a separate section that discusses expectations during the charter RFC discussion periods, with examples like raising objections, broadening or narrowing scope of activities/purpose, soliciting others who have expertise to join the WG as a founding member, concerns about overlap with the foundation, etc.
@ramsey Thanks for your work. I really hope this passes and will move PHP forward.
