Here's #JonathanCook expressing his frustration at the trolls and racists commonly, and presumably more commonly, found on #Substack.
My guess is he will try to moderate a little by blocking certain accounts but I also assume he won't succeed and will find moderation time consuming.
Oh well, c'est la vie. He is one of the journalists I've told about decentralised social media, trying to get him to adopt Fedi, but like the others he just wasn't interested and/or strangely resistant to Fedi.
The very last comment I made on Substack before deleting my account was to him as I pointed out the irony of using corporate-owned, Nazi-hosting Substack to write a blog critical of corporate-media's propaganda and manipulation as it ushers in fascism.
Cook misrepresented my argument and made a snarky comment about instead handing out leaflets in a public square as if independent, decentralised alternatives don't exist.
Someone else commented that I too was using Substack to make my comment (which if course would never be seen if I hadn't).
I quietly agreed with that poster and immediately deleted my account.
Bye bye, Substack!
I still read his Substack but I follow using its RSS feeds and I can read entire articles without actually visiting the site.
