RSS is a secret trick to making the internet more usable. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/06/hate-algorithm-rss-one-tools-youve-been-looking
@eff I used to use RSS back then. It's like a newspaper, which was cool but then I moved to i3wm then I kinda lost interest, for some reason.
@eff You can even follow RSS feeds in the fediverse via RSS Parot:
@eff I used to love Firefox "live" bookmarks. I use a reader now, but something in your face the way AI is could help make rss popular again.
@eff I hate how this is being presented as a secret trick. This is how we all used to consume internet content before Twitter and Flipboard.
Agreed. RSS was deliberately crippled by Big Tech - first with Google discontinuing Reader, then with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Reddit removing RSS support. Now it's unthinkable for businesses to drop their social media accounts, by collusion from the very social media that they rely on.
