I got a device that charges over USB-C and the manual tells you to make sure your USB-C voltage is less than 9v, with 5v recommended.
@foone I think it was @Unixbigot who has a power supply that blindly sticks 20V down the USB-C connector without doing PD negotiation
@jpm @foone it was a SFF PC which I fixed for @voltagex that turned out to ship with and require a wall wart that just jammed 12v down a USB-C plug. It would not run off 5V nor do PD negotiation, it required 12VDC delivered to its Not-USB Type C socket. I made a custom PD-decoy cable that was VERY CLEARLY MARKED.
