Maybe one of the #biology nerds will answer this for me...
What is the slime that forms on the water contacting surfaces of my cat's water fountain? If I miss a crevice, it becomes a little bit orange. It'll also gum up the pump if not taken care of.
I'd expect that to be a bacterial biofilm. We have it on our's, too.
