Breaking News: Bangor Daily News | Graham Platner officially withdraws from Senate race
Graham Platner filed paperwork with state officials Friday afternoon to get his name off the ballot in his suspended bid against U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, officially capping off a tumultuous campaign that fired up progressives across the state but eventually lost state and national support after a series of escalating scandals.
Glad we didn't have to go through the weekend with this hanging over everyone's head.
Maybe now we can refocus on winning this Senate seat and pulling together to beat back authoritarianism.
There is a crucial nominating convention coming up, and Maine has a wonderful opportunity to nominate an excellent progressive candidate representing the will of Maine Democratic voters to win this fight.
In life and politics you don't always get second chances. Let's make the most of this one!
