First actual impression of working with the Catalogue of Life XR (Extended Release) is that it seems to work very well! Currently on 10% of mapping the LoIR database, I will take a look at the statistics later.
Also, GNverifier (https://github.com/gnames/gnverifier/) is still amazing
Second impression: there *is* still a lot to do. The merging of the different checklists seems less fully-formed than in the GBIF Backbone Taxonomy.
For example, there are (at least) two entries for a well-known genus of wasps, Chrysis Linnaeus, 1761. One has incorrect metadata, a fraction of the species (95), but is placed in the correct family (Chrysididae): https://www.gbif.org/taxon/LS8V7. The other has 603 species, but is placed in Vespidae: https://www.gbif.org/taxon/3PF5. This means that at least 62,584 occurrences don't show up when filtering by the family Chrysididae.
