@cstross I thought that @wendyg would know better and would clearly distinguish between "SCO" (respectable Xenix vendor) and "The SCO Group" (formerly called Caldera and a nasty bunch of legal scavengers).

@cstross I'm a bit surprised the writing wasn't already on the wall in 2001, given that SCO vs Novell kicked off only two years later.

I certainly didn't know anything about it until the actual case hit the news, but I was an absolute nobody back then. My only direct connection with SCO was being quasi-responsible for a pretty awful predictive dialer system that used OpenServer in the late nineties.
