The amount of money that the effective altruists can just spend on all their "research labs" and think tanks to influence (tech) policy is really baffling.
Like epoch.ai which is some random AI booster network that puts out drivel gets fucking _millions_ every year. Think about what you could do with that money. How many people you could pay to solve actual problems.

@tante The german federal program fostering quality in whole day schools ran on a budget of about 16 Mio € per year. You can do great things with “little” money.
