@jeffjarvis But if Google is just using what it scrapes to feed the LLM and make up an answer instead of finding the web site the user wants, what's the downside for the publishers in cutting Google off?
As I was reading that, I had that thought - but also, interesting, Cloudflare goes to open war against Google.

@jeffjarvis Publishers won't lose many sales from me. I discover pretty much everything I read from bookstores, because I'm already following the author, or from Mastodon recommendations. Are they really getting any readers from Google search anyway, now that it's thoroughly enshittified?
