Morning all. Another day in furnace Britain beckons. 🥵
@Jaimieserotica I feel for you, having come from over that side of the world years back. I live in Australia now but the heat still gets me. Hope it eases for you soon❤️
@acesfunhouse Thanks! At least in Oz they're geared up for it with air-con and the like. I think we're going to have to get on board with that quickly if this is going to be the new normal..
@Jaimieserotica yeah, not all people, but some for sure....depends if you rent or own, for example, how old your place is. I only have a portable aircon as a renter(and bring under the poverty line), and in the height of summer it doesn't cut it😅I'd definitely get on board with aircon if your funds allow, for sure!
It is tricky, isn't it - aircon is expensive to buy, and expensive to run. So, again, better off people are going to have a better time.
And while solar can help offset the energy costs, installing panels is still expensive.
I have aircon in my garden office, and I am incredibly grateful for it.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a portable air-con unit for the main bedroom and then take a view of what I do later on. It's going to be too pricy to get the whole house kitted out, but just being able to sleep without dissolving into a sweaty puddle would be a real boon right now.
We priced up aircon for our house, and it was ££££. But if this is going to be a recurring thing, it might be a long term investment.
We have a portable unit, from four years ago (so there might be better ones now) and it is incredibly noisy. I can sleep through it, but Sandra struggles.
A hammock in the garden is looking like a cost effective option for me right now!
@neil @acesfunhouse
Exactly right!!
I'm going to research the portable units this weekend and, hopefully, see some in action to check out noise levels. My girlfriend would sleep through war breaking out, but I'm a very light sleeper, so noise levels would be crucial.
Normally, I am the lighter sleeper, but for this, for some reason, I find it easier than Sandra with this.
On balance, worth the £300ish that I paid though.
£300 for the aircon, not for Sandra, for avoidance of doubt.
@neil
Good to clarify! 🤭
Yes - the ones I've been looking at are in the 350-500 bracket. Money well spent if I can get a comfortable nights sleep.
