Understandably the events of the last week in Maine have everyone's nerves rattled, and there are lots of recriminations to work through.

But if we step back and assess where the race for the US Senate in Maine now stands, it seems clear that 1) we dodged a bullet, and 2) Democratic chances of winning have improved substantially.

Poor concerned Susan Collins is the second biggest loser of the week.
