Spain can afford to defy Trump and his fossil fuel funded regime because they have moved successfully to renewable energy.
Freed of the bullying by oil oligarchs, Spain has agency, autonomy, and sovereignty.
If only other nations chose the same path... ditch the hegemony of petrostate despots & their technofascist proxies.

@Npars01 @randahl The only country I really keep track of politically is Norway, and they could defy him too. They _mostly_ have migrated to renewables as well. And nearly all their oil is exported to the US. It would cause us a little bit of pain over here. But, most of their GDP is exports, so it wouldn't be a longterm strategy, but enough to fire a warning shot. A pretty painful one (in the most Norwegian way possible)

@jackofalltrades @Npars01 @randahl that is true. I always have a hard time explaining that they haven’t gone renewable, they’ve just always sorta been like that. As I understand their oil goes all over, but we buy a lot of it. But…we Americans are crack heads. I call gasoline “freedom crack”. And if you deny us even the slightest bit of oil…withdrawls will ensue and then we fucking start tearing apart the world looking for drugs. So, any denial is going to hurt.

@urlyman @jackofalltrades @Npars01 @randahl I love Norwegians. They are my favorite people, and I'm aiming on becoming one....it's not so much exporting....as "exploiting". But like your posts say, they are loaded. Their Sovereign fund is so stuffed, I think they're hiding the rest under Jonas Støre's mattress. What's odd is they themselves are not major carbonization contributors as more as the people are exploiting are.
