German grocery stores are expanding fast in the US because everything is so expensive under Trump.
Aldi already has 2500 stores, and is opening 500 more.

@randahl as a German in America I'm quite happy about more Aldi
@randahl
The fundamental difference is that while America tries to become great again, Europe is trying to be greater.
Europe is succeeding and going forward while America is succeeding and going backwards.
@randahl
It seems odd to me that Aldi being a German (EU) company has made a name for itself in the U.S. for its union busting tactics. They have radical anti-labor policies here and are part of a lawsuit to eliminate the agency that facilitates collective bargaining. I cannot imagine they do that in Germany. I guess they figure, "When in shithole, be a shit." Anyway, they can put a store on every corner, you won't catch me there.
@geos recall a source?
@randahl interesting history on Aldi. They came to Australia but are only on minor player here with about 10% market share

@randahl Dino Polska kiedy spółka Dino USA?
@randahl Aldi has been a favorite for years!
@randahl I'm witnessing this here in New York City. The Aldi near me has much more traffic lately.
@randahl Bad luck is: Despite of the growing profits, the salaries do not increase. So it’s not European people but only some capitalist from Europe.
@randahl Who knows? Maybe US is so bad, that Aldi will move there and close all the european branch.
Is it because the "super markets" have price fixed illegally where no competition exists while a handful of owners all golf together?
Notice that all grocery stores prices went up when the raw materials didn't?
@randahl If thre Aldi stores in France are anything like them, those places are scary. I wouldn't buy anything there.
@randahl
As long as they carry some real food. Most supermarkets are full of absolute chemical laden garbage. There are almost no Health Food Stores any longer. Only a couple that I know of in NYC Manhattan. There used to be lots. 😢 Whole Foods doesn't count.
@randahl yep... we have them popping up all around us in NW Florida. They're great! We've learned to keep our shopping bags in the car :)
unfortunately we still have to go to Mal-Wart™ for some things tho :(
