After the sanctions on ICC judges, the US is now unsurprisingly ramping up its attacks on the International Criminal Court and vows to dismantle it "brick by brick”.
Given that the US, named a Sec Def that defends war crimes and pushes “maximum lethality" doctrines, abducts heads of states and bombs schools, it's not really a surprise that they are escalating their attacks on the institutions that are dealing with war criminals.
@fj The press release from the US State Department spells out the insane intentions (e.g. "Increased scrutiny of nations that refuse to reject the ICC’s false authority") much clearer than Marco Rubio's ramblings in WSJ https://www.state.gov/releases/office-of-the-spokesperson/2026/07/state-department-launches-campaign-to-dismantle-international-criminal-courts-threat-to-american-sovereignty/
@fj "USA rejects Nuremberg Principles"
@fj The Mob is running America.
@fj It seems like "Don't commit crimes" is the easier method to avoid prosecution.
@fj Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Al Capone advocates defunding the Chicago police!!
He objects to a foreign court prosecuting Americans for crimes they commit in a foreign country. Does that mean he objects to Americans prosecuting foreigners for crimes they commit in America?
@fj I feel this is a little strange, but maybe I simply don't remember well. Was this normal before? Did news outlets print articles literally written by Whitehouse cabinet members? This seems like a thing I would not like happening? I'm fine with them doing press releases, maybe making articles available by their own distribution channels... but it seems weird to me to have a news outlet have you literally as an author.
If this was normal before, I don't think it should have been.
@fj @bert_hubert feels like the war criminals running the country are a bit nervous.
Iranians are just as aware of the midterm timeline as the White House, and they also watch US television and internal politics.
While the White House is planning a rug pull on Iran, I'm not sure if it is aware that Iran is aware and planning its own rug pull on the US when it hurts the most.
