new minor mode in emacs namedpackage-autosuggest-mode:
Enable automatic suggestions for installing add-on packages.
When this minor mode is turned on, Emacs will suggest installing
add-on packages from ELPA whenever it determines that the buffer’s
contents and editing could benefit from a better major mode.

and then the package-archive-priorities defcustom is super fucked too:
An alist of priorities for packages.
Each element has the form
(ARCHIVE-ID . PRIORITY).When installing packages, the package with the highest version
number from the archive with the highest priority is
selected. When higher versions are available from archives with
lower priorities, the user has to select those manually.
i don't have "priorities" between gnu elpa and melpa. if there's a disparity between the packages of the same name they individually serve to users that's a huge fucking problem
(and one we are actually close to fixing, btw!)
and then right under the incredibly egregious package-autosuggest-style, like anyone cares about how the recommendation database is presented to them, we have package-check-signature, which is ACTUALLY fucking important
