One thing you have to learn as you get older is that you don't have to be good at debating. If you're a socialist or an atheist, for example, you think "I have to be able to defend my opinions at all possible times". But you don't need to. Some people are better at it than others. Not everyone has to be able to give a convincing argument in the public sphere.
