70.5% of Starbucks baristas are women. Starbucks now requires them to perform additional emotion labor by writing a personal message on customers' cups. If not sufficiently nice, they are disciplined. They must perform friendliness but make it look spontaneous. https://qz.com/emotional-labor-starbucks-baristas-green-apron-service-051926
No surprise that "performing friendliness," made to look spontaneous, is neither a requirement for nor practiced by Starbucks CEO.
@amydiehl as someone who worked at Starbucks aeons ago…good fucking luck mandating that during the morning/lunch rush when everyone is cranking out drinks as fast as they can
@amydiehl @quixoticgeek I feel like these companies are run by men who do not understand genuine human interactions.
@michaelgemar @amydiehl @quixoticgeek
Yea that's how modern capitalism works, a bunch of autistic mf running the world, just see all the tech industry leaders
@RedKoba @michaelgemar @amydiehl @quixoticgeek
You could have picked white men, a much more accurate demographic, but chose neurodivergent people.
I'm not sure how deep your experience of Autistic people is, because in my experience they are often far more empathetic than normies, and I have a lot of experience in this area.
Case in point, more likely to be interested in animal welfare, less interested in racism and far right ideology.
@TwoClownsEating @michaelgemar @amydiehl @quixoticgeek
White men wouldn't be precise either. There are some women, negroes, arabs, indians, jews, etc. In that world, probably the only thing every one of them has in common is that all are pro-capitalism and have money as the highest value in life even over other peoples life
@RedKoba @michaelgemar @amydiehl @quixoticgeek well that's pretty goddamned offensive. Not to mention patently false.
@ianto_jones @michaelgemar @amydiehl @quixoticgeek
My intention was not to be offensive to people with autism; that would be self-offensive. The people I'm talking about identify themselves as autistic. And, of course, my intention wasn't to be precise; there is a difference between using correct terms and terms everyone understands.
I hate to be on that side, but I don't believe in all that woke stuff. I don't care about words or definitions but about material reality.
@RedKoba @ianto_jones @michaelgemar @amydiehl @quixoticgeek You sound like a fascist, not a fellow autistic person
@monokeros @ianto_jones @michaelgemar @amydiehl @quixoticgeek
I'm communist, materialist and monist, very far from fascism
@RedKoba @monokeros @ianto_jones @michaelgemar @amydiehl @quixoticgeek Having a young and sexy (?) Joseph Stalin as your profile picture tells us all we need to know about you, I think.
@tml @monokeros @ianto_jones @michaelgemar @amydiehl @quixoticgeek
Yea I'm very transparent about it
@RedKoba @tml @monokeros @ianto_jones @michaelgemar @amydiehl open about using an image of a man responsible for the deaths of over 3 million people? Have you fully thought out the implications here ?
@quixoticgeek @tml @monokeros @ianto_jones @michaelgemar @amydiehl
Now you are using fascist and CIA propaganda, the executions ordered by staling are about 800k most of them fascist/nazis and bourgeois
@RedKoba I think using ”autistic” as a general-purpose slur involving toxic behavior is way out of bounds. Please don't.
@RedKoba @amydiehl @quixoticgeek The problem isn’t autism — I know plenty of neurodivergent folks who are lovely.
The problem is psychopathy and narcissism.
@michaelgemar
@RedKoba @amydiehl @quixoticgeek
psychopathy is a deprecated term in psychiatry and narcissism could be used to refer to a personality disorder (although it isnt always) so you are still making a judgment on forms of neurodivergence albeit ones that are commonly considered "worse" on some level.
the problem is capitalism itself, which is a mode of production and a resulting social system. if every capitalist was perfectly mentally healthy and neurotypical it wouldnt change the fact that capital depends on the exploitation of labor to extract surplus value, and thus all capitalists are guilty of exploitation.
@RedKoba @michaelgemar @amydiehl I'm pretty sure it's not the autistic ones who are the problem. It's the sociopathic ones we have problems with.
@quixoticgeek @michaelgemar @amydiehl
I was thinking about Altman or Musk, who are diagnosed autistics
Probably sociopaths too but there is no diagnosis yet
