How is pressuring women to be rail thin with flat bellies compatible with trying to pressure them to have babies?
In the church culture I was in, yes, thin women were in some ways celebrated & extra special, but they couldn't really denigrate women with squishy bodies too much when they were trying to convince them they need to have 5-10 babies.
How is heroin chic compatible with "oh no, the birth rates"?
The contradictions we are expected to inhabit are getting so massive.
Thinness is being pushed harder than ever at the same moment that they are trying to pressure women into repeatedly doing something that will leave their body irrevocably changed in ways they cannot control.
And we're all supposed to just stomach this? Carry all the pressure to do literally incompatible things? Nah, come on! We're not doing this bullshit.
Femininity under patriarchy is a perpetual contradiction. It is the demand for someone to be all things at once: perfectly maternal, perfectly sexual, & perfectly productive.
