I’m starting to realize the biggest risk to US AI dominance is indeed China.
Anthropic and OpenAI doesn’t have to worry about Google/Meta/xAI. They haven’t been competitive
I haven’t seen US startups or mid size companies able to create a competitive models from scratch.
The most competitive model: Composer 2.5 from cursor is train on Kimi 2.5.
But China is releasing so much capable models (many open) last 2 months: Qwen, GLM, MiMo, Minimax, Kimi.
Bytedance haven’t even release a LLM for a year and their seeddance was beating Gemini Omni even though they release a month before.
AI cycle change fast every few months, but I feel like many of the US companies are not up to speed with this emerging reality.

@cheeaun I’m not 100% sure either but from consumption perspective, it will give US models less premium in their pricing and reduce the consolidation last 2 years.
I do wish price come down though.😖
@lxcid pricing-wise, I do think they'll only target B2B who has more money to spend, than us "customers" (or small businesses even?).
From "competition" perspective, it feels weird because it's like saying AWS won the cloud computing market or Netflix won the streaming platform market, which I don't think anyone would want that to happen…
