We live in an age where everyone thinks about money before thinking about how to serve humanity.
Billionaires possess an ego that is sufficiently large to justify having obscene amounts of wealth but fragile enough to turn to fascism to protect it.
It is one of the great paradoxes.
But one of those paradoxes that’s not actually contradictory.
The ego is necessary to justify what would otherwise be unjustifiable. But because the wealth is desired, the ego needs to be built up in some way.
Which, being artificial and false, becomes a “story” that’s both vulnerably fallible, and, desperately necessary.
A naturally unstable dynamic, of course, but when governed by those who are accustomed to controlling the world around them and have the means and desire to do so, well, you get a bull in a china shop.
