What's going on at the Wiki Media Foundation, is really worrying.
Important layoffs, are they the playbook of corporates now at the top of the foundation?
This could be possibly one of their worst moves. It's a fragile balance between love work (voluntary labour) and livelihood work (waged labour). And our cherished federation, the flagship of digital commons, really depends on the goodwill of the people making small donations. That income might suffer as a result. Probably income due to deals with AI corps will bring in a growing share. But is that the future we want?
