If you're using Mastodon or one of its forks, you can go to the About page for your host instance, scroll all the way down, click on Profile Directory, select New Arrivals, check out the new accounts, adopt a newbie, boost their intro post, answer their questions, just say hi, be the warm welcome you wish you had gotten, that sort of thing.
