I've been thinking about this short piece by @davew the last few days http://scripting.com/2026/05/22.html#a153242 Somehow it aligns with everything that I've been trying to build with Jottit and the handful of projects that grew out of it. But coming at it from a very different angle. I want to build this.
glad it resonated with you.
keep reading there's more in that thread, and there is more to come.
twitter-like systems are much simpler than you would think looking at this space, bluesky etc. and there doesn't need to be any lock-in, you can do a fair job with just RSS, rssCloud, OPML, web sockets, and a web browser UI. all parts replaceable.
@davew What I’ve started building is closer to the local workspace/runtime layer around publishing and knowledge: Markdown, agents, RSS, with WordPress for publishing. All loosely coupled and replaceable, but not really networked or Twitter-like in any way. Yet. Closer to how I imagine Frontier felt. Figuring it out as I go :)
since you support those standards we should be able to connect our software together. that way you get to use any features i've created.
@davew any chance i can try out the software you are building? would love to see the direction you are taking it
