“Yeah, I could give billions, but what would it even do? It wouldn’t do shit.” If you want to be utterly enraged, watch this clip. And let's turn that rage into action, please. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOIMdHecfz8
@codinghorror Hey Jeff, let's give it a go. Tell us how much tax YOU PERSONALLY (not your companies) pay in tax and we can decide what multiplier makes sense.
@willie1foot we paid full taxes, and I always would. If you signal contact me I will give you the exact number and screenshots of returns, but as a percentage of 2021 (the year Stack Overflow sold) it was 40.1%
@codinghorror Warren Buffett famously complained that it was “outrageous” that he paid less in taxes than his secretary (in percentage).
@codinghorror he said we would double his taxes and it wouldn't fix a thing.
I'm willing to give it a try.
And if that doesn't work, let's try tripling them. We can keep going until the fix presents itself. Sound good?
@codinghorror I am young an naive, but I've been starting to wonder if a billion dollars of tech bro money is not equivalent to a billion dollars of feed the world, or pay teachers money.
