so far most of what I've used pydantic for is easily replaced by python's built in dataclasses; some of the stuff I'm trying to modify here had some annoying serialization logic that will probably require more finagling, but it doesn't matter right now.
I've successfully ripped pydantic out of my crawler class, which, yay!
the whole thing is a mess since I half converted some awful ActivityStreams code I wrote (originally written in Rust, converted to Python and pydantic in a hurry; now partially working).
(why ActivityStreams? The Crawler is an Actor, with its own pub/private key (not secure at all at the moment) so that you can choose whether to trust it or not)
