@rixx So much for that global "deactivate AI" toggle, I guess ...
@rixx I no longer trust Firefox. On Android, I switched to #Ironfox by @celenity. On Linux, I use @librewolf.
@chpietsch @rixx @celenity @librewolf oh I have been looking for something on android I will give it a shot
@liaizon @chpietsch @rixx @celenity @librewolf
I'll add that when Motorola graduates to Graphene OS, I'll jump right on there.
Also trying to move away from Google in general, so testing Proton, while I debate arranging a better internet service to set up next cloud on a home server.
@Sassinake @chpietsch @rixx proton is a scam company I don't trust them with a ten foot stick. after the last issues they went after journalists who were reporting on them sharing info with the fbi. (context link https://www.threads.com/@bennjordan/post/DVjIfMvjfOK)
yeah, I'm getting a lot of contradictory info about them, but I think they are a threat to Google, so of course google would easily 'generate' a shit campaign against them to maintain its near monopoly. So I got the very base account (because earlier news today showed an artist losing everything on their drive (and mail, etc.) because of 'lewd' art.
I want Nextcloud, though.
@Sassinake @chpietsch @rixx proton has been digging their own grave I wouldn't put that blame on Google

@rixx also seen a few days ago "Here is a unasked for timer to the soccer world championship"
can someone please build something not being enshittificated? pleeeeeze.
can't wait to read the headline "Low-magnitude earthquake in highly populated area brings down AI servers"
@rixx "I don't have time to cultivate myself and form my own opinions, chatgpt give me my opinion!"
@rixx omg! Every once in a while I’ll see “want me t
Summarize this page?” Take over the screen and never knew why. Guessing I was shaking the device. What a stupid thing
@rixx Does yeeting register as a shake?
@rixx Vivaldi browser is a viable option. I switched and l from Firefox and haven't felt the need to switch back.
*Angrily throws phone at wall upon reading that*
*Phone summarizes the article*
@rixx @jalefkowit Waterfox FTW…
@rixx AI and motion controls, two things everyone loves!
@rixx I've always thought "shake to _____" doesn't make much sense. There are too many false positives and pressing a button is quicker.
@DaveBeBrave yeah, the only good use I ever saw was triggering the flashlight on Moto phones. That was rad
@rixx @briankrebs am I doing it right?
@rixx 😓 *** shaking the Mozilla Foundation really hard and not in a sexual way ***
@rixx
How is it enabled if mozilla claims that "Enabling Shake to summarize is optional"?
@rixx
Shake your device to send a notification to Mozilla that says "Firefox, noooo..."
@rixx they have been trying everything for "shake to do..." First it was "take a picture" then "report an error" then something else, now this. SMDH.
@jrdepriest @MeaningfulBits yesss, that was the only time in my life that I used the feature and it was so good!
@rixx It's a bit stupid but you can block all AI stuff in Firefox with a single toggle. Just FYI.
@rixx yet another shitty feature for firefox, yaaaay 😮💨
@rixx how could anyone at mozilla believe that this was a good idea...
