This is also our position for #IronFox.

(Thankfully, Mozilla’s “generative AI” features haven’t really made their way to Android, so this hasn’t yet been an issue for us - but this is how we will proceed if/when they are introduced).

I switched on #Android successfully from Fennec to #IronFox (formerly Mull, https://gitlab.com/ironfox-oss/IronFox), because they now have an option to disable the forced light theme (see screenshot). When they were still called Mull this was not possible to change.

This is exactly the reason whey I have problems switching from #Firefox to @librewolf. The reason for this are my bad eyes and my autism (light sensitivity). So for me (and a lot of others) this is a disability feature (also Darkreader or similar is mandatorily for me). I also think this can't easily be used for fingerprinting, because the amount of people using dark mode on their desktop/laptop is probably very large.

Fortunately #LibreWolf describes how to disable RFP (Resist Fingerprinting) and switch to regular fingerprinting protection (https://librewolf.net/docs/faq/#what-are-the-most-common-downsides-of-rfp-resist-fingerprinting). Although it would be much better if they add a setting like IronFox does.

My question is if disabling RFP and adding those strings to about:config is the best way to have dark mode? Or are there similar forks for desktop (Linux) as IronFox?

There are more and more #internet #browsers on the market, some including #AI features, others not. I get confused. Which #OpenSource #Android browser do you recommend for best #privacy and without any AI, and why? #IronFox ? #Cromite ? #Firefox Focus ? #Tor ? Others?

@switchingsoftware Seems broken for me too – not sure if it is related to the #IronFox 144.x releases or the new #CryptPad release.

@celenity @CryptPad You migtht want to take a look at this. Only getting Script errors when loading/creating documents or timeouts.

@jordan @thomholwerda There is also #IronFox, which probably has a smaller security feature gap to LibreWolf than WaterFox does.

lol, I installed #Ironfox (new Android browser project) and got bit by the bug right out of the gate, on Ironfox's own What's New page.

disabled Ublock Origin and the page loaded immediately.

this doesn't bode well for my peace of mind while browsing on mobile...

Good news! Next release of Fennec browser will support UnifiedPush. And IronFox plan to do it as well!
