"Having good parents is just like the lottery You’re just like, “Oh my god, I won the lottery! What the -- I didn’t do anything!”"
So true, I was so worried about coming out to them, reached out to my high school bestie, and she even offered to stand beside me, despite like 10 years of distance.
She wasn't needed though, my parents and especially my mom, love me unconditionally, and the pressure they put on me, asking when I was giving them grandchildren suddenly disappeared.
Lana Wachowski's HRC Visibility Award speech still hits.
I found it through a Burial song that sampled her words.
That was 2019, the year I became a trans ally.
2020 was the year I came out as gay.
Funny how a sample in a song can lead you all the way home, to a place where you finally stop pretending to be someone you're not.
Our lil' community is pretty special. ❤️
The ones before us fought hard. We owe it to them not to grow complacent and fight for our rights.
