When one goes to Alcoholics Anonymous, what we call "the rooms", one is expected to have a "higher power".
Now. AA has a *lot* of God talk in it, enough so that many folks who might benefit from it are put off by all the God stuff.
But officially, what is necessary is not God, it's "a higher power".
I don't believe in God.
But I believe in music.
@GeePawHill Have they even updated the manual? I had to proofread it in braille and man! It was outdated!

1) I am not a reformed alcoholic, but a practicing one.
2) I am not pitching AA to anyone for anyone.
3) I still think AA is a good thing, and helps many, tho by no means most, people.
4) Tho chemical addiction is a real thing, it is actually quite rare among so-called "addicts". The solution for most such issues is actually community.

I hope some day you are no longer a practicing alcoholic.
I studied drinking patterns and consumption based on some surveys and found some interesting things about alcohol addiction. i also found that some of the data is way off due to misunderstanding of the question. Maybe I should put that project on my anarchist university site once its up. Maybe you will give me some first hand insight into that research some day.
