I own all my music, and don't stream, which means there's no orgler -- is that still a word people use? -- picking songs for me, and there's lots of songs I've never even heard, some by artists we all know, like The Who, and some by artists who I maybe liked one song a little bit 25 years ago. :)
@GeePawHill I've taken lately to playing all the songs stored on my phone in random order while driving my car. I have a very wide-ranging collection, and there are some _interesting_ segues.
@gdinwiddie Juxtaposition can be jangling sometimes, but surprisingly often it turns out "just right".

Who the fuck is Duke Pearson? Never heard of him.
How come I to own this song? No idea whatsoever.
But it's nice. Kinda world-beat but feels like a strong jazz fusion influence.
Ahhhh, it's from a collection album: "Blue Note: The Ultimate Jazz Collection".
Pearson was apparently a keyboardist and composer, who "strongly influenced" Blue Note as a producer in the last phase of the hard bop years.
(This particular take isn't hard bop at all. I wonder if his "influence" was in returning hard bop to greater accessibility.)
